Statement + biography
My paintings are a mixture of the geometric and the organic. I work on several paintings at once, some are produced quickly whilst others are worked on many times. They are often layered, their journeys are there to be seen and explored by the viewer. An assemblage of gestural marks, straight edges, drawing, staining, geometric shapes, and patterning. I also produce small works on paper, watercolours and collages, often using a found support such as book covers.
I am interested in contrasts; chance and system, surface and depth, opacities and translucences, and building up and removing layers.
